A humid, but restful day

This morning I met up with Kim for a long run. We ran 10 miles on the Dora and New River Trails. It wasn’t hot outside, but it was really humid and I was sweating buckets by the end of the first mile. I actually drank close to two water bottles full of water during this run, which is more than I drink during a long run when it’s in the 80’s but not humid. Thank goodness for the water spigot at the head of the New River Trail.

I got all of my chores done yesterday so that I could just relax today after my long run. I have a bunch of TV shows to catch up on, a good book that I’ve been reading, blogs to catch up on, and a Netflix movie. The movie we have right now is “Rise of the Guardians”. It’s a kids movie, but I guess it looked good and/or funny when I saw the preview, so I put it on the list. I often put movies on the list if the preview looks good (before they’re even in the theater) and then when they finally come in the mail months later I can’t even remember what they’re about.

As soon as I got home from my long run I dumped the ingredients for cream cheese chicken chili into the crock pot for tonight. Don’t you love meals that you just put in the crock pot and forget about until dinner time?

Crock pot liners are the best invention ever. I’m also going to make cornbread to go with the chili. I use Jiffy cornbread mix, and in my opinion it’s the best kind.

Anyone else having humid weather today?

I had wild woman hair during our run, thanks to the humidity

Do you use Netflix?
We just have the basic DVD’s in the mail plan

What kind of day are you having today? A busy one? Relaxing one?

What are you making for dinner tonight?

  1. Muggy here too;

    Netflix On-line only;

    Had a great day. Saw Gatsby with a friend

    Had some wonderful steaks, twice beaked taters, edamames, and string beans with your sis.

    LUD.

    1. Oooh I can’t wait to see the Great Gatsby! I loved the book. Dinner sounds like it was good, too.

  2. No humidity (I live in AZ, naturally).
    We just canceled Netflix b/c we weren’t using it enough.
    Today was more of a relaxing day. Yesterday was physically draining and tomorrow will be busy.
    We had burgers, turkey burgers, bratwurst, parmesan potatoes, and a veggie medly for dinner.
    Your run sounds sweaty but good! Glad you had a water fountain nearby!

    1. I’ve heard a joke about it being a “dry heat” according to Jeff Dunham/Peanut.

  3. I. Love. Corn. Bread.

    Humid weather? BAHAHAHA. We DEFINTE humid weather.

    I had a full, but productive day. Whoot!

    And finally, we had “Kid Food” for dinner tonight: PB&J (on homemade bread), ants on a log, and grapes. Who says kid lunches won’t cut it for adult dinner time? It was delish!!! [And this theme has just become our Monday night dinner staple.]

    1. Me too!! Kid food sounds good to me! We do that every once in awhile, but ours usually involves mac n cheese.

  4. Crazy muggy here, too. I ran a 5K on Sat. and about died in it. The trail you were on is so pretty! I haven’t tried the Crock Pot liners but I need to! I hate washing that thing out.

    1. Oh the liners are the best! Ours are Reynolds brand, and our grocery store sells them in the zip loc bag/tin foil/saran wrap aisle.

  5. That trail is gorgeous! Which is it? Dora or NR?

    I’ve never heard of the crock pot liners. Where do you get them? We love the Jiffy corn muffins, too.

    We do Netflix too, and can’t wait for Arrested Development to be released!

    1. That’s the New River Trail.

      We get our crock pot liners from the grocery store. They sell them in the zip loc bag/tin foil/saran wrap aisle 🙂

  6. yay for long runs but UGH, i don’t think i could hack living in a state with humidity. i’d just turn into the wicked witch and be a pile of goo. 😛

    1. It gets tough in the summer and I dream of colder weather. Then in the winter when it’s below freezing, windy, and icing, I dream of summer. I’m just never happy 🙂

  7. humid here, too…and I hate it. blahhhh. Oh well, I guess I’d better get used to it.

    We have the online Netflix and we stream stuff through our Xbox onto our TV which is nice. I love watching previews. Zach and I were almost late to a movie last week and I was getting so upset about it and he was like “relax, it’s just the previews” and I was like “THAT’S THE BEST PART” ha. Sometimes I watch them on our dvds just to remember old good movies I haven’t watched in a while.

    1. Haha that is too funny! I love watching the preview, too, and I get cranky if we are late and miss them!
