A little homemade motivation

I spent a recent cold, rainy Saturday afternoon creating a few inspirational running posters. I used photos from races and from the trail. Enjoy!

From a snowy trail run at Mountain Lake:

From the Richmond Marathon, circa 2011; Barry headed to the finish:

From the New River State Park Trail:

From the American Family Fitness Half Marathon, Richmond 2012:

From the climb up Mill Mountain during the 2013 Blue Ridge Half Marathon:

From the finish line of the 2013 Charlotte Thunder Road Marathon:

Finally, from the New River State Park Trail:

  1. Great shots and I never knew all those famous authors & poets got their inspiration from running marathons. My favorite is credited to Eleanor Roosevelt but never confirmed, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”.

    LUD.

    1. Didn’t you know? Running marathons is at the root of everything πŸ™‚

I like that one by Elanor Roosevelt, too.

  2. LOVE them!!! I especially love the one after your marathon!! What a great quote!

    Two of my favorites are:

“Never rest until your good becomes better and your better becomes best” Coach Herman Boone

“Whether you think you can, or think you can’t – you’re right” Henry Ford

    1. Those are good ones! Now that you quoted Coach Boone I feel the need to go watch Remember the Titans. There may be another long treadmill run in my week because of you πŸ™‚

  3. Good quotes! I used to have the first quote in my blog header. Every day is a gift – that’s one of my favorites.

  4. What a great idea – love that you made your own motivational pictures!!!

    1. Thanks, Kim! Now I just have to remember to use them πŸ™‚

  5. I love these, Meagan! My favorite is the Robert Frost snow covered bridge.

    1. It was a good fit πŸ™‚ Good thing we went to Mountain Lake recently!

  6. These are awesome quotes! I love reading them as I am feeling pretty awesome (and a bit lazy) tonight after a hard core workout. Yeah-bring on the motivation!

    1. Ahhh I love that awesome feeling after a hard workout! I need to come back and read these after my next track workout πŸ™‚

  7. Those are so cool! I love them all. You chose perfect pictures for them, too!!

  8. I love Robert Frost.
New River State Park looks awesome! I need to check it out someday.

    1. Me too. It’s funny that as a kid I remember reading (and loving) Frost’s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening and now it provides motivation to my running. Things have come full circle πŸ™‚

  9. Very cute! Not sure I’m crafty enough for even this exercise, but I love that you turned your own photos into your own inspiration!! Are you now using them as the wallpaper on your computer? πŸ™‚

    1. Haha, no but that’s a good idea! Right now the wallpaper on my computer is a view of the sunset from our back deck πŸ™‚

  10. I love the Henry Ford quote above.

My favorite: “Rule your mind or your mind will rule you.” –Horace
