You know you’re a runner…. Part 2

Today we are heading down to Asheville for tomorrow’s marathon (Barry) and inagural half marathon (me) at the Biltmore Estate. In the meantime, here is my second installment of “You know you’re a runner when . . . .” If you missed part 1, you can find it HERE. Enjoy!

You know you’re a runner when . . . .

You’re up at 4:30 am on the dot for a race on the weekend, but hit the snooze at least 3 times when your alarm goes off at 6:30 for work during the week.

You got upset about an injury not because you damaged a part of your body, but because it kept you from running.

You see a vehicle on the highway with a 26.2 or 13.1 magnet and feel an instant connection with the driver.

You can convert kilometers to miles in your head without blinking an eye.

What you do for pleasure is what others view as punishment.

You spend more on race entries than you do on your Christmas shopping.

The word “fartlek” doesn’t make you laugh.

You have enough cotton race t-shirts to make a quilt.

Stairs can become a challenge, despite your fitness level.

Race bibs and/or race medals double as wall decorations in your house.

You see someone running while you are driving and wish it were you.

Finish the sentence. You know you’re a runner when . . . .

  1. These are all so true, especially the injury one! Haha! Who cares about our body as long as it still runs right? LOL

A race at the Biltmore Estate sounds amazing. Hope you both have a great race!!

Here’s mine: You know you’re a runner when…running comes up in almost every conversation.

You know you’re a runner when you see someone running and you rubber-neck to see if you know who it is (maybe that’s a small town thing LOL).

    1. Yours are so true, too! How does running manage to come up in every conversation!?

  2. These are so true, Meagan. It still surprises me that I am jealous of people who are outside running when I’m driving somewhere. I remember one day I saw so many runners outside that I went home and ran even though I had planned to take the day off!
    Have a GREAT race!

    1. I hate when I see someone out running when I’m at work, because it makes me want to drop everything and go for a run, too!

  3. Nicely done on the part 2, too!

You know you’re a runner when you get annoyed when all Saturday morning activities, chores, plans or scheduled around your long run.

  4. Great list! You know you’re a runner when you can easily name running shoe brands and models, too.

    1. That’s a good one! More than once during my race yesterday, I heard a runner say to someone “Are those *insert brand AND model* shoes?” I spent some time looking at shoes, and spotted some Hoka’s on the course. My new favorite 🙂
