Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! I hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday!

Yesterday after I finished up with work, I spent the majority of the day making more cookies (like 5 hours). I’m usually a purist when it comes to gingerbread, and will only make gingerbread men, but I decided to branch out this time.

I tried to trick my Dad into thinking we had roasted two of our chickens, by texting him pictures of them in the cast iron skillets, but he wasn’t fooled! After dinner, Barry and I made a gingerbread train (instead of a house) while we watched A Christmas Story. I think this may be a new tradition in the making. 🙂

And before bedtime, it was time to set out some treats for Santa. Last year instead of cookies and milk I left Santa energy gels and water. This year I decided to go a different direction…

Some pickled eggs and a “boy soda.” It looks like he was pleased, as there are gifts under the tree and no coal in our stockings.

I hope everyone has a great holiday! We will be headed up to visit my dad this weekend, and to celebrate Christmas with my side of the family.

Merry Christmas!

  1. My Santa got shortbread and a shot of bourbon to wash it down.

  2. The best part about being young and on your own is creating your own new holiday traditions! I love the ones you’ve started this year. Merry belated Christmas to you, Barry, Hank, & Scout!
