Like An 80 Year Old

It was recently brought to my attention that I have a lot of tendencies that are similar to that of an 80 year old. The more I thought about it the more I realized I have a lot of 80 year old characteristics.

  1. I still send birthday cards in the mail (often with a $1 bill in them – although that’s more of a family joke)
  2. I like to go to bed early
  3. I don’t like to go out after dark
  4. I need at least one bathroom break during a movie
  5. My favorite games include Gin Rummy, canasta, and Rummikub

  6. If I go out to dinner, I prefer to go early in the evening before it gets crowded
  7. I still pay most of my bills by check
  8. My dad has accused me of having an “old lady” purse (to which I replied your mom has an old lady purse)

Do any of these characteristics also describe you?
How are you like an 80 year old?

  1. 1, 2, 3, & 6 all the way. I can usually make it through a movie, and I don’t know how to make any card games. Well, I can play Go Fish. But I can never remember the rules for the rest! I’m also all about online bill pay, and my Mom buys me nice purses so I’m actually pretty stylish there.:)

    1. Barry and I recently tried to learn Cribbage after I bought a Cribbage board. So far, it has been too complicated to be fun or for us to remember all of the rules without referencing something. Maybe we should just play Go Fish instead ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll bet your card game repertoire grows as Emily gets older.

  2. I am such an old lady! I’m with you on the eating dinner and going to bed early and needing lots of bathroom breaks. I also wake up insanely early, dislike loud music and commotion, am (ahem) frugal and have been told I drive like a little old lady. I’m young at heart, though!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Numbers 1, 3 (unless Bill or someone else is driving because if totally has to do with me not seeing as well in the dark), and of course number 4! I actually dislike going to bed early – I feel like I’ll miss something. I haven’t played cards since fifth grade, and I pay everything online or have it set up to pay automatically except for a couple of things that only take checks. ๐Ÿ™‚

What's on your mind?
